Pfeiffer Vacuum gains Gold Medal at EcoVadis sustainability rating and improves its Sustainalytics Sustainability Risk Rating

Advanced Sustainability Ratings from Sustainalytics and EcoVadis for Pfeiffer Vacuum

We are proud to announce that Pfeiffer Vacuum was awarded a Gold Medal in the reputable sustainability rating of EcoVadis. "With this we are ranked within the top 2% of all manufacturing companies rated by EcoVadis worldwide. They certified our best in class greenhouse gas management system and strong decarbonization ambition with committed science-based targets", explains Erdi Tünay, Head of CSR Controlling & Reporting. EcoVadis is an international assessment platform for determining sustainability along the entire supply chain, with the aim of creating more transparency between business partners.

Furthermore, Sustainalytics, one of the best-known sustainability rating agencies, classifies Pfeiffer Vacuum at a medium-risk of experiencing material financial impacts from sustainability factors, due to our exposure to a medium risk environment and strong management of material CSR issues. They explicitly remarked that our company has a strong governance performance, which is reducing our overall risk and that we have not been party to any significant controversies. From an ESG Risk Rating of 31.43 in 2019 we have now improved to a rating of 22.9. This means we moved from a high risk of experiencing material financial impacts from sustainability factors to medium.

Looking at the industry sector Pfeiffer Vacuum is ranked in the top 20% (rank 91 of 572) of the companies rated by Sustainalytics.

What is the ESG Rating?

Erdi Tünay explains it like this: "The ESG Ratings refer to the assessment and rating of a company’s environmental, social and governance achievements and risks (ESG). It indicates how well a company manages its environmental impact, treats its employees and stakeholders and maintains good governance practices. The term ESG has become established as the standard for sustainable management."

There are several sustainability rating agencies that systematically calculate and compare the ESG ratings of companies with the help of special indicator systems. Both ratings, the EcoVadis Gold Medal and Sustainalytics Risk Rating confirm our good progress in implementing our business strategy of becoming the most sustainable market player in our industry.
